Google is one of the Largest Search engine Providers in the world. Millions of people around the globe now depend on its services on a daily basis. Google has launched a number of goods and services over the years that have assisted the business in staying one step ahead of its rivals. The introduction of its newest product, Bard, is a prime example of how not all of its attempts to compete have been effective.

Google’s decision to get into the chatbot market was a strategic one. The company has always been the front-runner in innovation and is constantly looking for new ways to improve its products and services. By introducing Bard, Google hoped to capture a share of the growing chatbot market and provide users with a superior conversational experience.

However, things did not go as planned for Google. Despite being powered by Google’s advanced AI technology, Bard failed to make a significant impact in the chatbot market. The reasons for this are several.

Firstly, Google’s decision to introduce Bard was rather late. Microsoft’s chatGPT had already captured a significant market share, and ChatGPT had established itself as a leading player in the chatbot market. By the time Bard was introduced, the market was already crowded by Chat GPT, and Google found it challenging to break through.

Secondly, Bard’s performance was not as impressive as Microsoft’s  ChatGPT. While Bard is able to generate responses to various types of questions, it struggled with understanding context and providing real responses. This made the conversational experience with Bard somewhat frustrating, and users quickly lost interest.

Thirdly, Google’s marketing strategy for Bard was not effective. The company failed to create a buzz around Bard and did not promote it aggressively enough. As a result, many potential users were not aware of its existence, and those who did not find it compelling enough to use.

Fourthly, Google’s decision to make Bard available only on its messaging app Allo was a huge mistake. Allo was not as popular as other messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and WeChat, which made it difficult for users to discover Bard. Had Google made Bard available on multiple platforms, it would have had a better chance of reaching a wider audience.

Lastly, Google’s pricing strategy for Bard was not competitive. While Microsoft’s  ChatGPT is available for free, Google charged a subscription fee for using Bard. This made it less attractive among users who were looking for a cost-effective chatbot solution.

A pay-per-use pricing model is the foundation of Google’s Bard pricing approach, in which users are charged in accordance with the volume of API requests they make. It is very easy to say that this pricing structure is more costly than other ones, such as subscription-based pricing. While users of Microsoft’s Turing model pay a set monthly charge for access to the API, Microsoft’s pricing strategy is based on a subscription-based model. For companies that need to utilize the AI language model frequently, this model has been found to be more cost-effective.

In conclusion, Google’s deliberate choice to launch Bard was made in an effort to corner the expanding chatbot market. Bard, however, incurred a loss as a result of the company’s ineffectiveness. This was due to a number of factors, including late entrance into a crowded market, poor performance, ineffective marketing, a small number of available products, and high prices. It will be fascinating to see if Google chooses to make another effort or focuses on other areas of innovation as the competition in the chatbot market continues to heat up.
